I just downloaded and installed a copy on my Mac. I was looking for something that would make nice looking flyers and promotional materials that looked better than templates for Open Office Writer. Scribus does the trick. It is simple and easy to use and yet has a lot of nice looking templates. I’ll be able to put together nice looking documents in no time at all, and of course when I need to spend more time making something extremely customized I can use GIMP, but for now Scribus is great.

From the site
Scribus is an open-source program that brings award-winning professional page layout to Linux/UNIX, Mac OS X, OS/2 and Windows desktops with a combination of “press-ready” output and new approaches to page layout. Underneath the modern and user friendly interface, Scribus supports professional publishing features, such as CMYK color, separations, ICC color management and versatile PDF creation.
